M. Turhan Kayasü was born in Ankara, in 1945. He completed his middle education in Tarsus American College between 1957-64, and his architectural education in the Department of Architecture, METU.

After graduation in 1969, he began to study for M.A. in the same department, at the same time he worked as an architect with A&B Cinici Architecture and Planning Office, Ankara, between 1968-1970, mainly on university buildings. He later worked as an architect in the UK, with Ellis/Williams Partnership, in their Manchester and London offices between 1970-1972, on university and school buildings. He returned home and worked in a special design office between 1972-74, an affiliate of the Tourism Bank of Turkey, in the design of high class hotels.

He established his own private practice in 1974, which lasted until 1982 and had jobs related to cooperative housing, planning, villas and technical buildings. In the meantime, completing the requirements, he was granted MA in 1976. He made his military service in the same year.

He worked in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia between 1982-1989 with Arch Center and the Saudi Consulting House (SCH) as design manager and assistant team captain successively on different types of projects as shopping centers, villas, public buildings, mosques and especially health facilities with the SCH.

Since 1990, he resumed his private practice and produced different types of projects as housing, villas, schools, intercity/metropolitan station buildings and mostly health facilities at home and abroad.

Since 1989, he is teaching Design and Construction & Materials courses at the Department of Interior Architecture, Bilkent University, Ankara.



Mert Kayasü was born in Ankara, in 1979. He completed his primary and high school education in TED Ankara College. In 1998, he started his architectural education in The Department of Architecture, METU, and graduated in 2002.

After graduation he began his Masters studies in the same department and completed his thesis "Regenerating the Historical Fabric: A Proposal For A Hybrid Infill In Mardin" in 2005.

Since his undergraduate education he was won several prizes in the competitions he has participated. Until the end of 2005 he has worked with various architectural offices in Ankara.

He has completed his military service in Turkish Air Force Command where he has designed various projects.

In 2007, he continued his career in Marmaray Project Contract CR1, initially with Prota Engineering, later with Doğuş Construction. During this period he has led the design of 36 station buildings and has been involved in the interface and contract management of the project.

Currently he is continuing his practice and studies in MTK Architects-Consultants with M. Turhan Kayasü as a partner, project manager and designer.

As a great enthusiast in aviation, Mert flies as a private pilot in Istanbul Aviation Club.
